I thought I'd put together a blog post with a few poses that were appropriate for the results of Groundhog Day ie. earlier or later Spring arrival. And as luck would have it this year is the year that the results have been confused and inconsistent! That being said, it seems the groundhog results (yes there's apparently more than one groundhog) are 2-1 in favour of an early Spring.
So! Here are a few poses that get us set up for a nice early Spring :)
Twists
Spring is typically known for a time when people start to detox and shed any extra weight that winter has placed on us. Of course in our society we immediately assume this means physically however we also start to Spring Clean and declutter at this time of year. Twists are used in yoga to Detox the body and are believed to increase circulation and aid in digestion.

Hip Openers
Spring can also be seen as the Season of New Beginnings. Shedding those things which no longer serve us, and nourishing those things we'd like to see take shape in our lives. Hips are believed to be the location in our bodies where we store our emotions so deep hip openers tend to reveal some pretty intense feelings. By processing these emotions we're able to move past them and take on new challenges without carrying around baggage we're not ready to face.
Here are some examples:

Happy Early Spring Everyone!!
