We've all experienced the disappointment, or the humbling effects of what we feel is a set-back, or failure on our quest towards some ultimate goal. What does this actually mean though?? If we take a break from training because our body has been indicating that its exhausted is this a set back? If we gain 3 lbs while we're on vacation eating amazing food, having a few glass of wine, and making amazing memories is this a set back? What about if we step away from a research paper to read a book just for fun... is this a failure??

Today in this post I am inviting you to think critically about any expectations you've put on yourself, and analyze the difference between setting healthy goals and the unhealthy guilt we place on ourselves if our path is not a direct line from point A to point B.

Let's let go of the idea that one day we will "arrive" and our goals will be actualized - success is not a destination! Thinking this way is setting yourself up for feeling like a failure because this destination doesn't exist. Change your idea of success from a single destination, to a journey of growth, choices, and experiences. This is success. If one day you were able to do crow pose, then the next day you can't get your freakin' toes to lift off the mat - this is not a failure. Its a moment on your path, and not a set back or an indication that you're failing at life.

So in closing - progress is not a "pass" or "fail" moment in time - it is a series of moments (some are in our control and some are not) that lead us to where we're meant to be. Let go of the guilt. Let go of the judgement. They're not serving you. Embrace change. Embrace challenges. And most of all - Enjoy your journey.
