Falling into a New Season

As the season shifts from Summer to Fall I thought I'd talk about what this shift means in my own life. First off, I am a tropical fish! I will take heat, sun, sweat, and beach over any other temperature but there is something magical about when fall creeps in. The days get shorter providing us with an excuse to slow down and reconnect with our routine. The crisp air is refreshing after a couple months of sweating and I have to say I think people look their best in the autumn season. Maybe its all those trendy scarves and sweaters...
Anyway! Thoughts are falling out of my head in as random a pattern as leaves falling off a tree... see what I did there ;)
Here is what fall means to me:
- Our lives get to slow down and we have more time to shift our focus to all those things that have been on the back burner all summer, for example, finding all the random socks in my house their missing mates.
- A return to our routine. As much as I love being spontaneous and flying by the seat of my pants there is something comforting about returning to my regular routine and ritual.
- Its a time to reorganize and re-prioritize! I always feel like shifts in season allow for a mini-check-in to see if we're on track with any goals we may have set for ourselves, or to revise goals that are just not working. The end of the year is 3 months away.. so what do you want the remainder of your 2015 to look like? How do you want to enter 2016? Its a great time to think about that.
- Reconnect with friends and family! I feel like throughout the summer we're all pulled in a million directions. Somehow we manage to be so busy and still feel like we haven't really spent time with anyone... how is that possible?! So now we can spend evenings eating pumpkin flavour things, drinking tea, and asking our people, "where have you been and what have you been up to and are you happy and what are your plans?" Yes. This is how I interrogate my friends - just ask them.
So as we wave farewell to our beloved summer we can take this opportunity to look forward to what is to come.
Peace <3
